As previously announced, the Getty Center will be closed to visitors, scholars and most staff Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, during the demolition of the Mulholland Drive Bridge, when the 405 Freeway will be closed.

The bridge is being demolished as part of the I-405 Freeway widening project.

The Getty Center will be open normal hours, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., on Friday, September 28, prior to the closure, and will reopen to visitors on Tuesday, October 2, at 10 a.m. as usual. The Getty Center is closed to the public on Mondays, but will be open for staff as normal.

A performance by the Calder Quartet, originally scheduled for September 29, has been rescheduled for Friday, October 5.

The Getty Villa will be open during its normal business hours throughout the weekend and will not be affected by the demolition. This is the last week for performances of Euripides’ Helen at the Villa, and some seats are still available at www.getty.edu.

The 405 Freeway will be shut down in both directions between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside September 29 and 30 for the second phase of demolition of the bridge. Lane closures on the 405 Freeway will begin Friday night, September 28, with the freeway slated to reopen the following Monday, October 1.
