The J. Paul Getty Museum celebrates the opening of its new drawings galleries with the dynamic exhibition Defining Modernity: European Drawings 1800-1900, which includes works by some of the greatest draftsmen of the 19th century, including Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, and Georges Seurat.

Defining Modernity is an exhibition of 40 drawings from the Getty Museums collection and seven drawings on loan from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London that surveys the depth and variety of 19th-century draftsmanship.
