Dine in L.A. Style at the Getty

Getty Restaurant offers special menu in connection with Herb Ritts: L.A. Style exhibition

LOS ANGELES—Don’t miss Herb Ritts: L.A. Style, a landmark exhibition of the work of photographer Herb Ritts on view at the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center through August 26.  While you’re there, enrich your experience of Southern California’s glamour and beauty with the locally sourced cuisine created by Getty Restaurant executive chef Mayet Cristobal and Chef de Cuisine Matt Lee, using Herb Ritts’s stunning black and white photographs as their muse.

Cristobal and Lee’s prix fixe Dine L.A. Style menus feature a palate of black and white sauces, reductions, vinaigrettes and creamy desserts that express L.A.’s inimitable flair and flavors.

For lunch, the menu begins with a pork belly “tostada” and continues with squid ink and sweet potato ravioli with black Tuscan kale, followed by house-made dark chocolate and vanilla bean ice cream with black and white shortbread cookies for dessert.  The prix fixe lunch is $34 per person; $52 with beverage pairing.

The dinner menu begins with yellowtail crudo, then burrata alla panna, followed by sea scallop with English pea risotto, featuring black garlic, pancetta, and black trumpet pea tendrils, finishing with Colorado lamb belly. For dessert, enjoy a delicious malted dark chocolate bombe paired with Café Obscura.  The prix fixe dinner is $85 per person; $115 with beverage pairing.

Each selection is paired with California wines.  Before dinner, set the mood with the Garden Martini, a signature cocktail featuring fresh muddled cucumber, basil, Bombay Sapphire gin, lime and simple syrup shaken with ice.

As a special flourish to the prix fixe lunch and dinner, each table’s server will snap a black and white Polaroid for a personal memento of the meal and the exhibition—a timeless takeaway from a photographer’s unforgettable show. The exhibition Herb Ritts: L.A. Style is sponsored by Lincoln.

The Getty’s Restaurant offers full service in an elegant setting with views of the ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains.  Lunch hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.  Dinner hours are Saturday 5:00-9:00 p.m.  Brunch is served on Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  Restaurant menus change seasonally.  Reservations are recommended. Visiting the Getty Center

The Getty Center is open Tuesday through Friday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is closed Monday and major holidays. Admission to the Getty Center is always free. Parking is $15 per car, but reduced to $10 after 5 p.m. on Saturdays and for evening events throughout the week. No reservation is required for parking or general admission. Reservations are required for event seating and groups of 15 or more.
