Oudry's Painted Menagerie (Press Release)

Oudry’s Painted Menagerie

Oudry’s Painted Menagerie, at the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Center from May 1 September 2, 2007, will mark the culmination of an important international collaboration of conservators, scientists, curators, and art historians. The exhibition will showcase the restored Rhinocerosand Lion, and 10 other Oudry paintings including an antelope, two leopards, a Mufflon sheep, several exotic fowl, and more than 20 animal drawings. Most of these portraits celebrate star specimens of the French king’s menagerie at Versailles.
