The Getty opens a new, expanded Children’s Shop at the Getty Center this week, featuring fun and imaginative items for kids of all ages.

Located on the Plaza Level of the West Pavilion in the Getty Museum, the Children’s Shop contains books, art kits, puzzles, activities, toys, videos, games and apparel for infants to tweens.

To celebrate the new store, visitors to the Getty Center’s daylong Family Festival on Saturday, June 9, can have their pictures taken with the store’s favorite plush toy, Gabby the Giraffe, and commemorate their visit with a special giraffe hand stamp.

At the Family Festival, delve into the world of celebrity, image, photography, and Los Angeles, inspired by the exhibitions Herb Ritts: L.A. Style and Portraits of Renown: Photography and the Cult of Celebrity. Design a magazine cover with a photo of you as the featured celebrity, learn how to vogue like Madonna, and dance to the sounds of Los Angeles at the close of the 20th century.

The Family Festival is June 9, 2012, 10am to 6pm. The Getty Center and the new Children’s Shop are open on Saturday until 9pm.
