Join renowned singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist Patti Smith for a unique performance exploring her extraordinary friendship with celebrated photographer Robert Mapplethorpe on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Getty Center.

Patti Smith was just 20 years old when she met Robert Mapplethorpe by chance on the streets of Brooklyn. They felt an immediate connection and would forge an unconditional, enduring friendship as they weathered the challenges of artistic life, uniquely bonded by their shared passion for the creation of art.

In celebration of the concurrent major retrospective exhibitions of Mapplethorpe’s photography at the J. Paul Getty Museum and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Patti Smith brings a unique performance to the Getty Center.

An Evening with Patti Smith will take place at the Getty Center in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and go on sale at 9am on Tuesday, March 15, 2016; 4 ticket-limit per person.

Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium is on view at the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center March 15–July 31, 2016, and at Los Angeles County Museum of Art March 20–July 31, 2016.
