“We welcome Lisa to the Getty Museum with a strong sense of the opportunity that the digital world offers to expand our educational mission,” said Potts in making the announcement. “The more we thought about this position within the Getty’s wide variety of programs, the more it became clear that the optimal candidate would be a creative thinker engaged in the digital world, where the greatest potential for increased access and impact lies. We wanted a strategic thinker with a strong digital background who will extend the range of applications and geographic reach of our educational content. I am confident we have found this in Lisa, and look forward to working with her in shaping the Getty’s future educational initiatives.”
Ms. Clements most recently worked as the Director of Content and Curriculum at the Walt Disney Company, where she managed multiple lines of business under the Disney Learning umbrella, including Disney Educational Productions, Disney English, and Disney Learning Print. In that capacity, she worked with educators and subject matter experts to produce award-winning interactive programs for both in-school and at-home use. Educational content developed under her leadership is currently being used by learners in India, China, Korea, Latin America, and throughout Europe.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Clements has developed new digital educational products for a variety of studios and content creation companies. These have included apps, computer games, and DVDs featuring Bill Nye the Science Guy and the popular Schoolhouse Rock series, and explored such varied subject matter as the planet, science and safety, math, American presidents, and the Holocaust.
“The Getty Museum’s education department has an unrivaled reputation for producing and delivering excellent arts content and programs,” said Ms. Clements. “I look forward to joining this talented team in exploring ways to engage a new and global audience, building on the foundation of the department’s very successful initiatives with interactive and digital tools.”
At the Museum, Ms. Clements will oversee educational efforts at both the Getty Center and Getty Villa. These include programs for educators and school groups from kindergarten through university, as well as lectures, theater performances, film programs, concerts for the public, and in-gallery and on-line interpretive media. Ms. Clements is a graduate of Princeton University with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
