The Getty Center’s Central Garden will be closed to visitors from Tuesday, February 14, through Sunday, May 27, 2012, for hardscape improvements including new railings and planter borders.

The closure affects all areas of the garden, including the sculpture garden, and all surrounding lawn areas.

Other outdoor areas remain available for guests, including two coffee carts with outdoor seating in the Museum Courtyard and the Sycamore Grove, and the Garden Terrace Cafe overlooking the Central Garden. The South Terrace and South Promontory also remain open, featuring spectacular views of the city and the Getty’s Cactus Garden.

Museum permanent collection galleries and the Family Room remain open as usual. Special exhibitions opening this spring at the Getty Center are Herb Ritts: LA Style; Portraits of Renown: Photography and the Cult of Celebrity; Renaissance Drawings from Germany and Switzerland, 1470–1600; and The Getty Research Institute: Recent Print Acquisitions.
