From May 8 through September 4, 2016, the Getty Center will remain open until 9:00pm on Fridays and 7:00pm on Sundays; its regular Saturday evening hours, open until 9:00pm, extend year-round.
From May 28 through August 27, 2016, the Getty Villa will remain open on Saturdays until 9:00pm, creating an opportunity to linger in the galleries and enjoy twilight in the gardens.
The Getty Villa will be open on Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, and Monday, July 4, Independence Day. The Getty Center will be closed both holidays.
Not only will visitors have more time to visit both sites with these extended hours, they can also enjoy a reduced parking rate of $10 after 4:00pm, Friday through Sunday at the Center and Saturday at the Villa.

Getty Center
Saturdays off the 405
One of the Getty’s most popular events, this outdoor music series offers evening views of the city and the chance to enjoy stimulating summer exhibitions in a relaxed atmosphere. The evenings feature performances by up-and-coming bands, along with DJ sets to open and close the night.
Mark your calendar. Dates for Saturdays off the 405 are May 21, June 18, July 9, July 23, and August 27.
Friday Flights
Friday Flights brings together a wide range of Los Angeles—based creative thinkers working across artistic mediums for a vibrant evening of sounds and sights. An inter-disciplinary series of happenings spanning contemporary classical music, artist-made interventions, electronic music, sound-based installations, poetry, dance, film, and more spreads out across the Getty Center from galleries to gardens.
Dates for Friday Flights are June 10, July 15, July 29, and August 26.
Family Festival
On June 11, 2016, navigate the myriad cultures of the Silk Road and beyond in this family festival inspired by the exhibitions Cave Temples of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China’s Silk Road and Traversing the Globe through Illuminated Manuscripts. With hands-on workshops and interactive events, children and their parents can make their own books, learn how to write Chinese characters, witness the beauty of calligraphy from the Middle Kingdom, be entranced by stories of Buddha in animal forms, and feel the world’s interconnectedness through music and dance from China to Iran.
Getty Villa
Alan Nakagawa: Myth Not Myth
In June at the Getty Villa, L.A.-based artist Alan Nakagawa presents several interactive sculptures he created in response to conversations with a Getty conservator, curator, and educator about mythology and misperceptions regarding the study of antiquities. The free presentation will take place in the Getty Villa’s Outer Peristyle garden from 1:00pm to 2:00pm and again from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturdays, June 11, 18, and 25, 2016.
Roman Mosaics: Evolution, Imagery, and Regional Characteristics
In a free lecture at the Getty Villa on June 16, 2016, archaeologist Demetrios Michaelides examines the development of mosaics as an art form, their spread throughout the Roman Empire, and their contribution to our understanding of the ancient world. Advance ticket is required.
Tea by the Sea
Every Thursday and Saturday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, Tea by the Sea at the Getty Villa is served. This special dining experience is inspired by the Mediterranean herbs, vegetables, and fruits that grow in the Villa’s gardens. Feast on a Mediterranean-influenced menu of sweet and savory sandwiches and pastries, along with fruits, cheeses, and a selection of teas. After tea, you can tour the Villa’s authentically re-created first-century Roman gardens with knowledgeable docents, then spend the rest of the afternoon savoring the Villa’s exhibitions and permanent collection. $36 per person.
