The J. Paul Getty Museum today announced the appointment of Betsy Severance as the Museum’s new Chief Registrar, effective June 23.

Ms. Severance has served as Exhibitions Registrar at the Getty Museum since 2003. Prior to that, she held positions at U.S. Art Company, Fine Arts Express, and the Orange County Museum of Art.

“Betsy brings to her new position exceptional and wide-ranging experience as well as a sterling record as an efficient and meticulous manager,” said J. Paul Getty Museum Director Timothy Potts in making the announcement. “She has assembled an expert team and I feel confident that in assuming this new role she will ensure a smooth transition for her department and the Museum.”

Ms. Severance will replace Sally Hibbard, the Getty Museum’s Chief Registrar who is retiring at the end of June after nearly 40 years at the Museum.
